Role overview
You will be responsible for the entire plant and fleet of the organisation. Essentially you will ensure all plant and vehicles are fit for purpose and proper running order through best-in-class maintenance and purchase programmes. You will also drive the use of data to achieve fuel consumption goals and service targets.
Responsibilities:
- Create a programme of maintenance in line with operations, logistics and SHEQ targets through minimal downtime and best use of company resources.
- Drive company towards achieving fuel consumption targets
- Ensure key departmental data is collated and correctly managed such as repairs, breakdowns, incidents etc
- Handle negotiations and escalations with regards insurance, claims, affected 3rd parties etc
- Build response plans for key risks such as accidents, breakdowns, and failed inspections
- Ensure policies and procedures are communicated across the team and wider business as well as being a key expert point of contact on same.
- Ensure all vehicles and plant are onboarding and off boarded to users
- Constantly looking to improve overall driver performance with regards safety, adhering to route plans, self-care of vehicles and overall vehicle/machinery usage.
- Register and license all vehicles under their management ie vehicle tax, NCT/MOT, VRT etc
- Responsible for obtaining and managing insurance quotations/renewals etc.
The Person:
- A track record in transport and fleet management.
- Good working knowledge of vehicle mechanics
- Have a good knowledge and experience of vehicle mechanical repairs.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to utilise key data to achieve goals

- Excellent ability to communicate with people
- Leadership skills and team building ability
- Good PC Skills Literate – Microsoft Office (word, excel, outlook, PowerPoint)
