Sparktel are partnering exclusively with one of Ireland’s leading infrastructure design and build contractors to appoint a Head of Civils. This is a senior leadership role with full commercial responsibility for the Civils Department, covering street, footpath, and road infrastructure across council framework contracts in the greater Dublin area.
The successful candidate will lead a high-performing team, drive quality and performance across multiple concurrent programmes, and act as the key interface between the client organisation, regulatory authorities, and delivery partners.
Responsibilities
- Oversee day-to-day operations across project delivery, ensuring programmes are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with regulatory authorities, local councils, and key stakeholders.
- Collaborate closely with the Commercial team to identify and mitigate risks to budget, suppliers, and project timelines at an early stage.
- Monitor performance against targets, conducting regular audits to maintain the highest standards of service and quality across the team.
- Lead incident management — investigate accidents, near misses, quality failures, and service issues, implementing corrective actions as required.
- Support tendering and contract documentation, and take ownership of monitoring and controlling project budgets.
- Champion health and safety across the team, taking personal responsibility for compliance with all H&S procedures.
Requirements
- 4+ years of senior civils management experience, with a strong background in utilities and roadworks.
- Level 8 degree in Civil Engineering, or equivalent demonstrable experience.
- Proven project management capability, with a track record of delivering complex programmes.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills — confident liaising with clients, councils, and regulatory bodies.
- Solid understanding of Health, Safety, and Environmental regulations in a civils context.
- Strong IT proficiency and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
