Planning Manager – Telecoms Infrastructure (Programme & Planning Focus) Greater Dublin Area | €65,000 – €70,000 DOE | Hybrid
Sparktel are currently recruiting for an experienced Project Manager on behalf of our client, a niche first-tier telecoms infrastructure contractor based in the Greater Dublin Area. This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established and growing business at a pivotal stage of their development.
Reporting directly to the Head of Operations, the successful candidate will take ownership of the planning, programme management, and back-office coordination of multiple concurrent telecoms infrastructure projects across ducting, fibre splicing, and cabling. This is an office-based, planning-led role — ideal for a structured thinker who thrives on building out programmes of work, managing commercial and operational reporting, and orchestrating delivery through site teams rather than being on the tools themselves.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the planning, scheduling, and programme management of concurrent telecoms infrastructure projects from award through to close-out.
- Develop and maintain detailed project plans, Gantt programmes, resource forecasts, and risk registers across the full project portfolio.
- Coordinate and commercially manage specialist third-party subcontractors — scoping works, issuing orders, tracking progress, and holding them accountable to agreed timelines and budgets.
- Own project controls: cost tracking, forecasting, variance analysis, milestone monitoring, and KPI reporting.
- Produce clear, professional progress reports, dashboards, and commercial updates for internal leadership and client stakeholders.
- Act as the central point of coordination between clients, site delivery teams, subcontractors, and internal support functions.
- Proactively identify programme risks and dependencies, and drive mitigation plans before they impact delivery.
- Ensure all projects are delivered in line with quality, health & safety, and environmental requirements — working closely with site and HSQE teams.
- Support the Head of Operations with pipeline planning, resource modelling, and continuous improvement of project management processes and systems.
Experience & Skills Required
- Demonstrable project or programme management experience within telecoms infrastructure — ducting, fibre splicing, cabling, or similar.
- Proven track record of planning and controlling multiple concurrent projects from a central, office-based position.
- Strong commercial acumen — comfortable with budgets, cost reporting, subcontractor management, and variations.
- Advanced skills in MS Project, Excel, and project management / reporting platforms; experience with tools such as Primavera P6, Asta Powerproject, or similar is a distinct advantage.
- Excellent structured communication skills — confident producing executive-level reports and presenting to senior clients.
- Strong stakeholder management skills across internal teams, clients, and external delivery partners.
- Highly organised, methodical, and process-driven — someone who brings structure and visibility to complex programmes.
- A collaborative team player who can influence delivery outcomes without being the one in the van.
Package
- Salary: €65,000 – €70,000 DOE
- Company Car
- Pension Scheme
- Private Healthcare
- 23 Days Annual Leave
- Hybrid Working Arrangement
- Clear and genuine opportunity for career progression
This is a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious project management professional who wants to step back from day-to-day site delivery and take ownership of the planning, controls, and programme orchestration side of a specialist contractor with a strong project pipeline.
