An exciting opportunity for a Senior Estimator to join a dynamic engineering and construction team. This role requires a blend of analytical precision, commercial acumen, and technical expertise to deliver accurate and competitive cost estimates across a range of projects. The successful candidate will oversee the full bid lifecycle — from initial RFQ analysis through to final handover — ensuring robust pricing strategies, effective risk management, and strong collaboration across internal and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyse tender documentation, drawings, and specifications to develop comprehensive and accurate cost estimates.
- Prepare detailed first-principles estimates and ensure alignment with client BOQ requirements.
- Source and evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotations, identifying scope gaps and technical/commercial variances.
- Lead bid development, collaborating with internal teams (Construction, Commercial, EHS, Quality, and Legal) to establish an optimal execution strategy.
- Support risk reviews and prepare cash flows, internal estimate reports, and management presentations.
- Participate in post-tender negotiations, providing clarification responses and supporting final client discussions.
- Prepare comprehensive handover documentation to ensure seamless transition from estimation to project delivery.
- Maintain compliance with all Health & Safety procedures, promoting a safe working culture.
Key Requirements
- Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Economics, or Quantity Surveying (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in an estimating role within the construction or civil engineering sector.
- Strong technical understanding of tender processes, drawings, and specifications.
- Excellent analytical, numerical, and IT skills, with strong attention to detail.
- Proficiency with estimating software (experience with Conquest is an advantage).
- Strong communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Proven ability to manage bids independently, meet tight deadlines, and coordinate across teams.
- Self-motivated, collaborative, and customer-focused, with a commitment to quality and continuous improvement.
